OUR STORY
We have chosen (or have been chosen?) to live in the mountains, in the small medieval village of Trassilico, in Garfagnana, 720m above sea level. Here, embraced by the Apennines and the Apuan Alps, we have felt the urge to revive, recreate the natural genuine way of living – a perfect balance between community and nature, filling each day with joy and meaning.

In this place, whose origins date back to the II century, we have found the perfect environment to live by our values, to try to bring our dreams to reality and to contribute to the community.

For this scope we have founded a Community Cooperative that takes care of the existing commercial activities in the village as well as works on finding new ways to promote our beautiful home and to attract more tourists and residents by creating activities, attractions, services, and workplaces.
Away from the frenetic modern life, that gets more and more indifferent to the real human needs, Trassilico has summoned us and welcomed us with an incredible ease and hospitality, like if we came back home from a long trip. Here we have found that genuineness and pureness that constitute the conditions necessary for us to live a fulfilled life of true wellbeing and happiness.
THE RIFUGIO
Our Rifugio (the nearest translation would be a shelter, a refuge) is situated on the village’s main road and consists of two floors:
On the ground floor you can find a cozy restaurant that offers traditional cuisine based on seasonal local produce, a bar, a grocery corner with essential goods and locally produced treats, and a bookshop/library helping you discover our marvelous territory, its history, legends, and particularities.
On the first floor instead, there are the four guest rooms with a shared bathroom.
